WAAR (2013) - Biggest Lollywood (Pakistani) Movie - Review

The much-awaited Pakistani movie “Waar” took unexpectedly long time to make it to the big screen is now on air and it allotted 35 screens all around Pakistan. Movie is based not on traditional romance or household stuff, but is about Real Action, authentic measures, counter-terrorism, apprehension and dread which portray the eminent work as per done in Hollywood.



Film has broken all the previous records of Pakistani Cinema. On its first day of opening the film has generated a business of 11.4 million. And as per Wikipedia announcement it makes about US $1.35 million on 1st day. And total budget on this movie was about PKR: 170 to 200 million and about US $2 million.

Storyline:

The film is based on actual life events surrounding the war on terror in Pakistan including the attack on a Police Academy at Lahore in 2009. Major Mujtaba (played by Shaan) is a former army officer, who took an early retirement from the service. The plot involves a counter-terrorism operation being conducted in the Northwestern tribal region of Pakistan, lead by Ehtesham (played by Hamza Ali Abbasi) and coordinated by an intelligence officer played by Ayesha. Ehtesham and the intelligence officer come to know of a major terrorist attack that can only be countered with the help of Major Mujtaba.
